US Highway 2 stretches from Puget Sound east to the heart of Washington state at the confluence of the Wenatchee and Columbia rivers. The 105-mile highway—also known as the Stevens Pass Scenic Byway or Greenway—winds through rugged, forested slopes and follows the powerful Skykomish and Wenatchee rivers as they descend from the North Cascades. The corridor provides incredible year-round recreational opportunities such as skiing, whitewater rafting, and rock climbing as well as impressive views of majestic peaks. Three wilderness areas form the backbone of the Stevens Pass Greenway: Henry M. Jackson and Wild Sky to the north and Alpine Lakes to the south. These areas not only protect important natural resource values, they also offer unique opportunities to experience the beauty and wild nature of the North Cascades.
