Volunteer at North Cascades National Park!

North Cascades National Park has an active volunteer program with as many as 200 volunteers participating in a variety of positions. Most positions are available from May through October. However, some are open all year. The types of positions vary greatly and may include clerical; skilled and unskilled maintenance; trail trimming; highway clean-up; biology and hydrology data collection; exotic plant removal; visitor contact in campgrounds, on trails or at visitor centers; or backcountry patrols. Volunteers gain valuable work experience which benefits them and the park.

Cascades Citizen Wildlife Monitoring Project

The Cascades Citizen Wildlife Monitoring Project is an opportunity for volunteers to get outdoors, conduct animal surveys, and contribute to our understanding of wildlife presence and movement in the Cascades. In the winter, volunteers use snow tracks to document signs of wildlife. Teams have trailed pine martens in the Hyak corridor and identified cougar tracks near the proposed Rock Knob overpass. Volunteers receive tracking training in return for committing to conduct three-day surveys.

Women in The Woods Trail Project With the Greenway

The Mountain to Sound Greenway Women in the Woods Trail project on the Twin Falls Trail in North Bend is designed specially for women. Whether you are a trail pro or are out to try trail work for the first time, Women in the Woods events are a blast. Join this team of women for some much needed trail maintenance and repair on this popular hiking destination. Hiking Boots, long pants and long sleeves required. Minimum age is 14 years old. (Adult required to sign liability releases for any volunteer under 18 years old.)
